Squamish Chamber of Commerce and Squamish CAN representatives, along with Squamish Green Business Award 2010 winners, Triack Resources Ltd, spent several hours reviewing 11 brilliant applications before selecting Newport Auto Inc as this year's winner.
Newport Auto Inc has provided complete custom retail automotive mechanical maintenance, repair, fleet service, and tire sales from Squamish to the Sea to Sky corridor since 2000.
The panel of judges was particularly impressed with the degree of commitment, the creativity, the thoroughness, and the quality of changes implemented in Newport Auto Incs operations as this business looks constantly for ways to reduce their impact on the environment. Newport Auto Inc demonstrates a hugely proactive approach towards sustainability in a business that we would not normally or naturally associate with green enterprises or standards.
As such, this environmentally-minded and dedicated small local business provides us with priceless exemplary behaviour and the valuable lesson that we can all take action to reduce our environmental footprint regardless the nature of our personal activities and occupations.
